NSW Police Commissioner Mal Lanyon announced an extension of protest restrictions in Sydney during the upcoming visit of Israeli President Isaac Herzog.

The move aims to balance the right to free speech and protest with the need for community safety.

Mr Lanyon stated that significant “animosity” has been observed on social media and at recent public assemblies regarding Mr Herzog’s visit, necessitating measures to mitigate risks to public safety.
