Iran said on Wednesday (Feb 4) that talks with the United States were going ahead as planned, as President Donald Trump piled pressure on Tehran’s supreme leader by saying he should be "very worried". Their nuclear negotiations will take place in Oman on Friday, instead of Turkiye. Stephen Zunes, professor of politics at the University of San Francisco, tells CNA’s Asia First why, despite Iran’s government being unpopular at home, the threat of a US attack could actually strengthen its domestic standing.
