Thailand goes to to polls for general election and national referendum on the constitution

Voting opened in Thailand for a general election on Sunday (Feb 8), with close to 53 million people eligible to cast their ballots. For the first time in Thailand’s history, a national referendum will be held alongside the general election. Voters will not only elect 500 members of oarliament, but also decide whether a new constitution should be created.
Three parties are expected to dominate the contest – Bhumjaithai, Pheu Thai and People’s Party.
