‘Campaign for clemency’: Ghislaine Maxwell refuses to answer Epstein questions during deposition

Ghislaine Maxwell – who is serving a 20-year jail sentence for sex trafficking – has refused to answer questions during a closed-door congressional deposition, prompting criticism from White House officials.
According to reports, the 64-year-old invoked her Fifth Amendment right during the meeting and provided no information.
New Mexico Democratic Representative Melanie Stansbury believes Ms Maxwell’s silence is allegedly an attempt at campaigning for clemency.
“It is very clear that she uses opportunity to not only campaign for clemency as she has been doing,” she said.
“But also to send a direct message that she is hoping that people who are sitting in the deposition will transmit to the President of the United States, which is that her silence can be bought through clemency.”
A spokesperson for Ghislaine Maxwell has stated it’s likely she’ll continue to invoke her Fifth Amendment privilege at future depositions.
