Thailand’s Election Commission is facing fresh scrutiny, after reports of unsealed ballot boxes sparked a standoff between officials and residents in the eastern coastal province of Chonburi. Complaints about alleged irregularities are mounting nationwide and questions are growing over the credibility of the election process. The Election Commission will take two days to investigate before deciding if a recount is necessary. Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, whose Bhumjaithai Party has won the most seats on Sunday, brushed aside accusations, saying such claims are common from those unhappy with the election outcome. Saksith Saiyasombut reports from Bangkok.
