Bangladesh has deployed more than 150,000 police officers across the nation ahead of a general election on Thursday (Feb 12), amid concerns of violence at polling stations. It is the country’s first election since youth-led protests toppled former prime minister Sheikh Hasina’s government and led to her ousting. The focus has also been on how the outcome of the election will affect geopolitics in the region. Bharath Gopalaswamy, executive director of District Global Solutions, shares his insights with CNA’s Asia First.
