Fires involving active mobility devices in Singapore down nearly 27% in 2025: SCDF

In Singapore, fires involving active mobility devices fell by nearly 27% last year. The Singapore Civil Defence Force’s latest statistics report shows there were 49 such fires in 2025. Despite the overall decline, authorities say concerns remain as such fires, especially in homes, can spread rapidly in confined spaces. Overall, the number of fires in Singapore rose slightly last year, up 3% to 2,050 cases. Meanwhile, more members of the public are stepping up to help in emergencies. The response rate by community first responders to suspected cardiac arrests and minor fires rose from about 50% in 2024 to over 72% last year. Sign-ups on SCDF’s myResponder app also climbed, with more than 47,000 new volunteers in 2025. Sherlyn Seah reports.
