Hormuz brief: Iran’s ‘2 navies’, mine removal tactics & stranded ship crews

The conflict between Iran and the United States and Israel has effectively halted maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, which handled around 20% of the global shipping of oil before the war.

Former Trump Secretary of the Navy Kenneth Braithwaite describes what he calls Iran’s “two navies,” one of which is wreaking havoc on ships trying to navigate Hormuz.

Also, former Navy explosive ordinance disposal officer Tom Sauer details what it takes to remove Iranian mines from the water, maritime official Arsenio Dominguez on conditions for stranded seafarers and former Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro has more on the logistical challenge of blockading Hormuz.
