President Donald Trump brought Chinese President Xi Jinping to view the U.S. Constitution and Declaration of Independence in Washington, D.C. Friday.
The leaders, accompanied by their spouses First Lady Melania Trump and Madame Peng Liyuan, made their way from the White House to the National Archives, where the documents are on held. The display of the United States’ coveted documents establishing democracy – and the freedom of the press – to the Chinese communist leader comes at a unique moment after the American press’ spat with Trump this week over White House Access and concerns over the Chinese state-controlled media at the White House.
