The day after Christa Pike’s execution in Tennessee was botched, her lawyer said she is alive and in critical condition at an undisclosed hospital.
“We don’t have much sense of her prognosis but we do know that she is alive right now and receiving lifesaving medical care,” said Randy Spivey, one of Pike’s attorneys, during an online press conference.
Spivey called for Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee to commute her sentence immediately.
"Christa has endured punishment greater than any other person in the history of the American death penalty," Spivey said.
