The White House is monitoring Russia’s potential pneumonic plague as unofficial reports reveal that close to 200 people are now under observation. This comes after the death of a researcher who worked at a Russian lab dedicated to studying the plague and other infectious diseases.

Former White House COVID-19 Response Coordinator Dr. Ashish Jha calls out Russia’s lack of transparency, telling CNN’s Erin Burnett, “until we get more information, I think we have to assume that there is something more going on than what we’re seeing.”

Also, retired Major General Paul Friedrichs, Dr. Carlos del Rio and Dr. Petere Hotez weigh in on the seriousness of the global health risk.
