Following the opposition of high-ranking Brazilian military personnel to the coup plan and the conviction of Jair Bolsonaro (PL) for attempted coup d’état, among other crimes, to 27 years and 3 months in prison. The sons of the former Brazilian president, federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL) and senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL), are betting on the use of US military forces on Brazilian territory to destabilize and weaken the country’s democracy and sovereignty.

The statements by “traitors to the nation”, suggesting an invasion of national territory, come after the failed attempt to intimidate and obstruct justice by persuading the United States government to impose sanctions against Brazilian officials, Supreme Court justices, and increase tariffs on the Brazilian population. These efforts resulted in increased approval ratings for the Lula administration and a closer relationship with US President Donald Trump.

High-ranking Brazilian military personnel did not place thousands of soldiers, mostly young men from low-income families, at the former president’s disposal. Would the families of US military personnel be willing to send their children to a war in which the greatest beneficiaries would be members of Bolsonaro’s wealthy family?
