Sydney is experiencing a heatwave with temperatures reaching up to 40 degrees Celsius in western areas including Penrith, Parramatta and Camden. The extreme heat is expected to continue for several days before a cool change brings temperatures back to the mid-20s by Sunday. Paramedics are urging residents to stay hydrated, seek shade, and check on vulnerable community members including the elderly and those with medical conditions.
