A Mesa family has been reunited with their mother’s cremated remains after a funeral home mistakenly gave the ashes to another person who was picking up remains for someone with the same last name.

Beau Jent and his siblings went to Sunflower Cremation and Burial last month to have their 65-year-old mother, Barbara Hall, cremated. When they returned last week to make final arrangements, they learned Hall’s remains had been given to the wrong person on Dec. 1.

“We thought that it would be taken care of. We were not expecting to have to deal with any of this, and it just unfortunately took a turn for the worse,” Jent said.

Mickaela Castillo reports.
