After his 18‑year‑old son Stephen Benito Jacobo was shot and killed at a Mesa apartment complex, Stephen’s father, Mark Jacobo, says no prison term can make up for the loss. He pushed prosecutors to pursue a second‑degree murder charge and calls the 15‑year sentence “a good outcome,” but says he’ll carry his own life sentence of grief.
