On Monday, Hong Kong’s High Court found opposition activist and founder of the now-defunct Apple Daily, Jimmy Lai, guilty of violating the National Security Law. Lai is the most prominent figure convicted under the legislation following a trial that lasted more than two years. Sentencing will take place at a later date.
