A housing project in Mesa that’s intended to create new options for people in need of shelter is facing another hurdle. City leaders unexpectedly delayed a final vote on the project, pushing the decision back by months.

Members of the Valley Interfaith Project say a vote on this development has already been delayed twice by the Mesa City Council, and it’s the very last thing council members have to vote on to finalize the project. But with what seem like endless delays, they are worried this will take away a resource that is greatly needed.

Mickaela Castillo reports.
