Singapore faces shortage of organ donations as more than 500 patients wait for transplant

For many, a life-saving transplant remains out of reach. More than 500 patients are currently waiting for vital organs. Last year for kidney transplants alone, only 10 per cent received one, with a nine-year wait on average. As the Health Ministry steps up efforts to encourage more pledges, it assures that processes are in place to respect donors’ wishes. Sherlyn Seah reports.
