Blue Origin’s next suborbital space launch is set to make history Thursday when it carries a person who uses a wheelchair to space.
Michaela "Michi" Benthaus, an aerospace and mechatronics engineer at the European Space Agency, suffered a spinal cord injury in 2018. Now, she hopes to be the first person who uses a wheelchair to make it to space.
The New Shepard crewed flight, NS-37, will lift off from a launch site in West Texas. The launch window opens at 10 a.m. Central time, with the livestream starting about 40 minutes before launch.
