Up in the high country, Coconino County is dealing with a shortage of school counselors. According to the CDC, rural children are more likely to suffer from a mental health crisis. Coconino County is the second-largest county in the lower 48 states. Local education leaders said it can make it hard for children to access resources, especially when it comes to mental health. So they’re using $4 million in grant funding to fix it.
