On December 22, the Forestry Department of Hunan Province and Hunan Academy of Forestry jointly launched the "Feather Trace Action" to study the distribution patterns and habitat adaptability of birds. The initiative will equip 10 representative migratory birds in Dongting Lake with BeiDou satellite trackers. What sets these trackers apart is their built-in miniature cameras, allowing for a first-person "selfie" perspective to observe the birds’ authentic winter lives.
What does the installation process entail? What precautions are involved? How advanced are these trackers? What does the footage reveal about their winter survival? Join CGTN’s livestream as we take you through the process of fitting these camera-equipped trackers and showcasing China’s technological prowess in bird conservation.
