Some industry watchers have warned of a new low in freight volumes, even with the peak US holiday season. But, lower freight volumes are just one challenge. The industry is seeing a talent shortage — in Hong Kong, the number of people working in the shipping industry dropped by about 5% in 2024 from 2020.
