Deakin University Economist Dr Nataliya Ilyushina discusses the increase in Australians’ energy bills, which are impacting inflation and the cost-of-living crisis.
“Electricity prices grew by 36 per cent in a year, which is the main driver of this last inflation spike,” Ms Ilyushina told Sky News Australia.
“RBA would have been aware that low inflation was driven by the electricity rebate, and as soon as that was taken off, we were exposed to this harsh truth about the energy prices.”
