A tragic explosion of unknown origin ripped through Le Constellation Bar and Lounge in the upscale Swiss ski resort of Crans-Montana, Valais canton, around 1:30am local time on January 1, 2026, during New Year’s Eve celebrations, resulting in several fatalities and multiple injuries among revelers. Videos circulating on social media captured massive plumes of smoke and flames engulfing the popular venue, as emergency services responded to the scene in the luxurious Alpine destination renowned for its 87 miles of skiing pistes descending from the 2,927-meter Pointe de la Plaine Morte peak, a winter hotspot frequented by British tourists and other international visitors. Authorities, including Valais cantonal police, have confirmed the deaths and ongoing investigations into the cause, with the incident overshadowing festivities in the heart of Switzerland’s premier winter tourism region.
