Naval Warfare Senior Research Fellow Brent Sadler states Iran is “buying for time” to outlast US President Donald Trump’s administration and have a more “amenable” leader in Washington, DC.

“The Iranian regime is buying for time … they certainly don’t want to give up their ballistic missile programs, nor their nuclear weapons development program,” Mr Sadler told Sky News Australia.

“Right now, the regime is facing some severe protests across the country that appear to be spreading.

I think they’re trying to find some relief from the outside pressures as they turn inside.”
