Hong Kong’s anti-graft agency has arrested at least 21 people on suspicion of corruption, in connection with renovation work at two housing estates in Kwun Tong district. The arrests are part of a crackdown against a triad-linked corruption syndicate connected to building maintenance. The Independent Commission Against Corruption says the suspects include middlemen, project consultants, contractors and members of incorporated owners. The watchdog agency’s actions are taking place after the fire at Tai Po district in November that killed at least 161 people.
