US President Donald Trump has threatened that Venezuela’s newly appointed leader will face a worse fate than captured President Nicolas Maduro.
Venezuela’s new leader, Delcy Rodriguez, condemned the arrest of Maduro shortly after he and his wife landed in a New York City jail.
Trump asserted he will not stand for any defiance from Rodriguez if she fails to fall in line with the US President’s vision of reform for Venezuela.
Rodriguez, a long-time socialist, has been tapped to be Venezuela’s new interim leader following the arrest and capture of her predecessor.
“If she doesn’t do what’s right, she is going to pay a very big price, probably bigger than Maduro,” Trump said.
