The English journalist and contributor to The Guardian, Dom Phillips, and the Brazilian indigenist Bruno Pereira have been missing for more than 24 hours in the Vale do Javari region of the Amazon.

The information about the disappearance was confirmed by the editor of the English newspaper, Jonathan Watts, and by the Coordination of the Univaja Indigenous Organization, this Monday (06).

The duo roamed the forest with the aim of consolidating joint work between riverside people and indigenous people, in the surveillance of the territory affected by the intense invasions of gold miners and illegal deforestation.

In a publication on Twitter, the editor of the British newspaper cited death threats against the indigenist, registered a few hours before the disappearance.
