The anesthesiologist Giovanni Quintella Bezerra, accused of raping a pregnant woman during childbirth, had his prison converted from flagrant to preventive on Tuesday (12), the doctor will be imprisoned indefinitely, and his situation will be reassessed if it exceeds 90 days.

During this period, the police investigation may be concluded and handed over to the Public Ministry, which will decide whether to report it or not, and to maintain the arrest.

Giovanni Quintella Bezerra underwent a custody hearing held at the José Frederico Marques public jail, in Benfica, in the North Zone of Rio de Janeiro, where he was taken late on Monday afternoon (11).

The Secretary of Penitentiary Administration (Seap) reported that Giovanni Quintella Bezerra will be sent to the Pedrolino Werling de Oliveira prison (Bangu 8), in the Gericinó Complex.
