France prefers "respect to bullies" and "the rule of law to brutality", said French President Emmanuel Macron in a speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos on Tuesday (Jan 20). His remarks came amid rising tensions with the US, after President Donald Trump threatened steep tariffs over Europe’s stance on Greenland.
Macron also drew attention for wearing aviator sunglasses during the speech — a detail the Elysee Palace later said was due to a burst blood vessel in his eye.
