Imagine stepping into a world where ancient legends come to life through dance, storytelling, stunning backdrops and a live orchestra that bridges East and West. Shen Yun is a journey through time, showcasing 5,000 years of Chinese culture, bringing traditions and stories that uplift the soul to the stage through music and movement. After touring 20 countries, Shen Yun returns to the California Center for the arts for three nights only. Mike Tuck and Vivian Wang join our Laura Cavanaugh to share more about this spectacular cultural event.
Shen Yun is an international phenomenon, but a New York–based nonprofit performing arts company dedicated to reviving China’s 5,000-year-old traditional culture through classical Chinese dance and live music. It was founded by artists who sought artistic freedom in America. Shen Yun has grown over the past 20 years into a global phenomenon, performing for more than one million people worldwide each year.
Audiences are transported through ancient dynasties, vibrant ethnic traditions and timeless legends, brought to life through breathtaking dance, hand-crafted costumes, a live orchestra blending Eastern and Western instruments and stunning animated backdrops that feel magical. Many describe Shen Yun as not just a feast for the eyes and ears, but a deeply uplifting experience for the heart and soul.
Shen Yun is a family-friendly show that transcends generations.
Shen Yun returns to Escondido January 27 through 29 at the California Center for the Arts for a limited engagement.
