‘So far off’: Trump administration ‘walk back’ statements about Minneapolis shooting

Sky News Washington analyst Annelise Nielsen claims Trump administration officials’ statements on the shooting of a US citizen in Minneapolis by federal immigration agents were “so far off”.
This comes after Alex Pretti, a 37-year-old intensive care nurse and US citizen, was shot dead over the weekend by federal immigration agents when at least 10 shots were fired at him.
Mr Pretti had no criminal record and a license to carry a firearm – open carry is legal in Minnesota.
Videos of the shooting have gone viral, which appear to contradict some of the official statements about the incident.
“He (Alex Pretti) was licensed to carry that firearm, he was carrying it in the appropriate way, so there was no reason, according to normal Republican ideology, that he should have any issue being there with that firearm on him as it was at that time,” Ms Nielsen told Sky News Australia.
“This has been one of those cases where it’s just so far off what traditional Republicans think.
“It has absolutely been a turning point. They’ve realised that they got the statement wrong, and so you can see them walking it back.”
