On the morning of Friday (25), a 16-year-old murderer wearing a handmade Nazi swastika emblem, glued to his arm, the son of a police officer, with the family car and therefore special pliers from Forcas Amadas, an automatic pistol and a 38-caliber revolver owned by his policeman father, attacked two schools in the city of Aracruz, in the State of Espírito Santo, in Brazil, one private and the other public. The shots were fired at around 9:30 am at the Primo Bitti State School and at a private school located on the same road, in Praia de Coqueiral, 22 km from the center of the municipality.

Hours after the crime, the killer was identified, apprehended and taken to the Espírito Santo Socio-Educational Service Institute. According to the police, the criminal will respond for an offense similar to four homicides and 10 qualified homicide attempts. In the killer’s house, the police found other materials with the Nazi symbol, investigators will ask for access to message exchanges to clarify whether he was part of any extremist network and group.

“He had his head down, he showed a certain coldness, but he answered very little or only what was asked, but without going on too long. He showed a certain tranquility for the fact that had happened, for the deaths that had occurred, for the injured people. We could see a certain coldness on his face, but, as we said, we cannot pass judgment on this behavior”, said Colonel Márcio Celante, Secretary of Public Security for the State of Espírito Santo.

As of Saturday (26), four people had died, teacher Maria da Penha Pereira de Melo Baths, aged 48, teacher Cybelle Passos, aged 45, teacher Flávia Amboss Merçon Leonardo, aged 36 and student Selena Sagrillo Zuccolotto, 12 years old, who studied at the Praia de Coqueiral Educational Center.

Three other teachers remain hospitalized, of which two are in serious condition. Two children, also hit by the shots, are in the ICU of the Hospital Infantil de Vitória, in a very serious state of health.
