Matthew Dowd explained that when he made the comments, it was not yet known that Charlie Kirk was the target of the attack and had been shot at the event.
Matthew Dowd, a veteran of George W. Bush and Dick Cheney‘s 2004 presidential campaigns, was fired from MSNBC after making comments about Charlie Kirk, which he made when asked by MSNBC anchor Katy Tur about “the environment in which a shooting like this happens.”

“He’s been one of the most divisive, especially divisive younger figures in this, who is constantly sort of pushing this sort of hate speech or sort of aimed at certain groups. And I always go back to, hateful thoughts lead to hateful words, which then lead to hateful actions. And I think that is the environment we are in. You can’t stop with these sort of awful thoughts you have and then saying these awful words and not expect awful actions to take place. And that’s the unfortunate environment we are in.”, Matthew Dowd stated in his response.
“The Right Wing media mob ginned up, went after me on a plethora of platforms, and MSNBC reacted to that mob.”, Matthew Dowd reported after being fired from MSNBC on Friday.
commentIt’s a big political football that the facist are using to remove anyone that makes a comment. They have trolls patrolling the web to expose our comments about the dead POS.
commentDowd said nothing wrong… This is mind boggling… MSNBC jumped the gun on that one, no pun intended… Its a political talk show….or I should say, was a political talk show…
commentThey did Dowd wrong. I enjoyed listening to him.
commentMSNBC practice what you preach. You criticized lawyers colleges for bending at the knee. WOW!
commentIt wouldn’t have mattered either way. He said nothing wrong.
commentWhat Dowd said was only the truth.
commentI stand with Mathew Dowd.
commentAll our corporations and institutions are in a panic, proving that having great power does not necessarily impart courage.
commentDoesn’t matter, the mainstream “news” is now fully under Trumps thumb.
commentFacts and the truth are not time dependent.
