Israeli attacks leave at least 20 dead in Gaza
By Rodrigo Santos Andrade
The political battle in Tamil Nadu is intensifying ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, on a two-day visit to the state, launched a sharp attack on the ruling DMK government, accusing Chief Minister M K Stalin of prioritising family succession over governance. Shah also alleged that Hindu sentiments are under attack, citing the ‘Deepam’ controversy and remarks on Sanatana Dharma. In response, the DMK dismissed the allegations, labelling the BJP as ‘anti-Tamil’ and asserting they will never form a government in the state. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Stalin is set to launch a free laptop scheme today, aiming to distribute 20 lakh units to students. The AIADMK and PMK have also criticised the state government’s Pongal cash gift initiative.
