Australian scientists at QUT’s Translational Research Institute in Brisbane are developing a probiotic for cattle that targets microbes in the animals’ stomachs. The innovation aims to reduce bovine methane emissions while simultaneously increasing beef production by improving digestion and nutrient absorption. The probiotic will be trialled in cattle feed near Townsville next year, with the potential to be added to feed in powder or spray form.
