China has strongly criticized Japan’s recent remarks on nuclear weapons and its targeted military deployments toward China. Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi said Tokyo would "not rule out all options" regarding nuclear-powered submarines. Meanwhile, Japan’s Defense Ministry accused China of rapidly expanding defense spending and announced plans to deploy radar systems in Okinawa by 2026. In response, Chinese Defense Ministry spokesperson Zhang Xiaogang said on Thursday that China’s defense spending is reasonable, its military activities comply with international law, and China will take countermeasures against any harassment or provocations.
