Electric bikes are surging in popularity and zipping into more households, giving kids more freedom and fun on two wheels. But with greater speed comes greater risk.

As E-Bike use has risen, and with kids often not knowing the rules of the road, E-Bike accidents have climbed sharply. If an E-Bike is on your child’s wish list this holiday season, you need to hear from one person first. Safety Expert Andria Yu joins our Laura Cavanaugh with critical safety tips on responsible riding this holiday season and what you need to know before your child hits the road.

The Motorcycle Safety Foundation and People for Bikes have teamed up to create an online E-Bike safety course. The course is designed to help riders understand rules of the road, riding etiquette, strategies to stay safe, as well as hand signals and E-bike care. It was developed so that school systems and law enforcement can use it as a turn-key educational tool. They can assign the Ecourse, track progress and completion, even verify with a code.

While this course is developed with younger riders in mind, it has valuable information for people of all ages. Parents are encouraged to take the online course with their kids.

The course is self-paced, interactive and for all skill levels.
