European Union foreign ministers gathered in Brussels for a high-stakes Foreign Affairs Council meeting as the EU faced two major global challenges: the Gaza conflict and the ongoing war in Ukraine. During the meeting, U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner were expected to brief EU foreign ministers via video conference on the Trump administration’s Gaza peace plan. The briefing followed a proposal by French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot, who said the EU supports the plan and wants to contribute to its implementation, highlighting renewed diplomatic engagement between Washington and Brussels on Middle East peace efforts.
