A former Arizona school bus driver for a district northwest of the Valley is facing multiple charges after investigators said he molested two young girls.
Officials wrote in a letter to parents earlier this month that Charles Ellington was arrested on Dec. 1 and booked into jail the next day.
Nadaburg Unified School District leaders said they were first told about the investigation into Ellington on Sept. 3. He was placed on administrative leave, and the district cooperated with the investigation, officials said.
On Sept. 11, Ellington was given a notice that he was going to be fired, and on Oct. 8, he was let go. He had been with the district since Aug. 26, 2021.
NUSD said all the victims in the case have been identified and are helping with the investigation. His alleged victims, a 13-year-old girl and a 10-year-old girl, are students in the district. According to court documents, at least one of the sexual assaults happened in what’s described as the bus driver’s lounge.
