The number of families requiring assistance from ComCare has hit a five-year low in 2024. ComCare is a government financial aid scheme that provides basic living assistance to lower-income families. The Social and Family Development Ministry’s annual report on lower-income households trends says the decline since 2020 reflects economic growth,
labour market expansion and increased support from other schemes. Chloe Teo has the report. We also spoke with Dr Wong Chin Yi on the latest findings. He is a Research Fellow at the IPS Social Lab, National University of Singapore.
