A major milestone for biodiversity conservation has been recorded in southwest China’s Yunnan Province. The great hornbill, a nationally protected Class-I species, has been spotted for the first time in Menglian County in the city of Pu’er. The rare bird was captured on camera by local bird photographers, offering vivid evidence of the species’ return to the area. Experts say the rare sighting highlights improving ecosystems and the growing success of biodiversity conservation in the region.
