The USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory said sustained lava fountains of approximately 50-100 feet (15-30 meters) in height were erupting from the north vent and that the heights of the lava fountains were rapidly increasing. The eruptions were confined to the Halema’uma’u crater within Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.

Located in a closed area of the park, Kilauea is one of the world’s most active volcanoes and has been erupting intermittently since December 23, 2024.
