December 14, 1972 The 17th annual La Posada was held in Old Town last night and about six-hundred persons…young and old alike…took part in the traditional pre-Christmas event. La Posada is the re-enactment of Mary and Joseph’s search for shelter on the night Christ was born. 16-year-old Ramona McGee portrayed Mary and 18-year-old Mark Augustin played the role of Joseph. They led a candlelight procession through the main streets of Old Town, and joining in the singing of Christmas carols were students from Southwestern College, Vista high school and Plymouth Congregational Church…also several sixth graders from Sessions elementary school. A group of students from Midway Adult’s history class which meets at the Mason street school, helped in sponsoring event.
