The federal government quietly made changes to gender quotas the day after the Bondi massacre.
Under the amendments flagged by Attorney General Michelle Rowland, all solicitors contracted by the government must ensure 40 per cent of their work is performed by female barristers.
This is an increase from 25 per cent of work performed by senior barristers and 30 per cent by junior barristers.
The Opposition questioned the government’s priorities.
