Communications Minister Anika Wells spent approximately $9,000 on taxpayer-funded family attendance at three AFL grand finals since 2022, along with additional expenses including $4,000 for cricket events, $3,000 for a ski trip, $100,000 for New York flights, $27,000 for Paris and $42,000 for France and Switzerland trips. Trade Minister Don Farrell also spent about $9,000 attending sporting and cultural events including Opera House shows, Australian Open, AFL grand finals and a sunset dinner at Uluru. The Coalition is calling for a review of all political spending despite politicians from both sides justifying such expenses as being within existing rules.
