At least 25 people have been killed in Iran during the first nine days of protests over its escalating economic issues, according to human rights groups.
Demonstrators in Tehran’s Grand Bazaar could be seen throwing gas canisters towards security forces in the latest skirmish with security.
In December, Iran introduced a new pricing tier for its national subsidised gasoline, raising the annual inflation rate to around 40 per cent as prices for meat, rice, and other staples continue to rise in the country.
Protests have now reached over 220 locations, with more than 990 arrests according to the US-based Human Rights News Agency.
