Across Australia, there are plenty of sore heads this afternoon, while others are getting stuck into their New Year’s resolutions. In the wake of the Bondi terror attack, unity was a recurring theme for Aussies everywhere, with touching scenes of hope and peace.

It’s been a tragic start to the new year on Sydney’s beaches with two people dead and another two missing in the past 24 hours. Marine Rescue are still searching for a 14-year-old boy after a tinny capsized yesterday, as well as a 25-year-old man who disappeared this morning. Lifesavers are pleading for beachgoers to stay out of the rough surf.
