Israeli attacks leave at least 20 dead in Gaza

December 31, 1963 For a lot of San Diegans, tonight means a night on the town and here in San Diego there’s a wide variety of not only places but also prices. Most of the arrangements are the same, whether it be on Shelter Island, Mission Valley, downtown or your own neighborhood. A single charge, anything from 15 to 25 dollars a person includes champagne, dinner, dancing, entertainment, hats and noisemakers. One place is offering filet mignon, and a couple of clubs here in Mission Valley include a room so revelers won’t be troubled with finding their way home. Some of the downtown hotels have nothing special planned and prices will remain the same. Some of the larger ballrooms however will be rented by groups, such as this Mexican American group in the El Cortez Cotillion room. They’ll all have one thing in common…balloons, bunting and somewhere a huge sign saying "Happy New Year."
