New Zealanders were amongst the first in the world to celebrate the arrival of 2026 with a fireworks display in Auckland on Thursday (January 1).
The fireworks show started with a 10-second countdown projected on the base of Auckland’s 328-metre tall Sky Tower, followed by fireworks illuminating the night sky.
